Getting Involved
There are many ways that you can get involved with Hands-On Wildlife Safari. If you would like more information about getting involved please contact us.
Volunteers
We could not survive without our dedicated volunteers. We already have wonderful volunteers who support us in many different ways, but we always need more. We hold volunteer training classes regularly for our staff to learn how to handle and care for our animal ambassadors.
Volunteers can help in many different ways, from pooper scooping to event staff, grant writers, animal handlers, foster parents, photography, marketing, advertising, sponsorship, publicity, etc. The only limitation to volunteering with H.O.W.S. is age; you must be at least 18 years old.
Internships
Exciting learning opportunities are available to college students and recent graduates interested in a career in animal care and eco-education. All internships provide hands-on learning and a realistic look at the daily life of an animal care specialist. Interns work with biologists, trainers and other professionals to develop a deeper understanding of the responsibilities, requirements, and benefits of a career in the animal care field. Start and end dates are flexible to accommodate school schedules.
Donations – Not Just Financial!
Being a 501 (c) 3 Not for Profit organization, our survival is dependent on donations and sponsorships. All donations are tax deductible. Many of our animal ambassadors have special needs that prevent them from surviving in the wild and need special training to participate in our interactive educational programs. Please take a look at our adoptions and sponsorships and donate today.
Although financial support is not only greatly appreciated but our lifeline, donations can come in many forms. We accept food, supplies, equipment, gas cards, etc. Check out our Wish List of supplies that we use on a regular basis.
Adoptions and Sponsorships
There are many different ways to support Hands-On Wildlife Safari, you can make a one time gift, a corporate sponsorship, or name HOWS in your estate. For more detailed information, visit our sponsorship page.
Animals along with their special diets require other consumable items to keep them comfortable, safe and happy. We are always in need of the following items and greatly appreciate your help. You may also check out our Wish List for more specialty items that we can use.

Land for Environmental Center
Our goal is to develop our organization and eventually create our own eco-education center to cater to our large educational groups. To do this we would need 2.5 - 5 acres in the central Florida area. As we feel we should practice what we preach, we want to be on the cutting edge of “green building”. We would like our enclosures to be naturalistic species-specific habitats. We also envision a theatre style classroom in which we can educate through enlightenment and entertainment, where people can experience a Hands-On adventure in a safe environment.
